The weather today was BEAUTIFUL!!!! We took a drive to the north/west part of Howard County to a wildlife and primate rescue. Why would we take such a trip on a day free of Marching Band when we could choose to do just about anything?? Well, here's why...
Last night when Tim went to turn the grill on for dinner, a mouse ran out from under the grill. Then he saw a very tiny baby mouse laying on the patio next to the grill. After looking around we found another baby on the other side of the grill. Well, since the mother ran off and they were so tiny (eyes still closed) we scooped them into a bowl and brought them into warm them up. A little internet research told us to keep them warm and feed them (or leave them alone so the mother has a chance to come get them...). So we filled a sock with some rice and heated it in the microwave for them to lay on inside a box. We also fed them a little warm milk with a dropper.

Since we (read I) were not really wanting to care for more babies (like feeding them every 2 hours like some online mouse site suggested) we decided to cut a whole in the box and leave them outside for the night in hopes that the mother would come get them. It was pretty cool out last night so we weren't expecting them to survive through the night, but low and behold they were still there and wiggling around and squeaking this morning. Tim was already to keep them and raise them, but (smartly) looked online to find a place that might take them. Well, we found Frisky's Wildlife and Primate Sanctuary in Woodstock, MD.
It was quite a nice drive out there and Colleen was very nice and happy to take the two little mice. She also said they looked good, not dehydrated at all, and that we did a good job caring for them. :) So we said goodbye to our little friends and drove to Centennial Park where we took a nice walk around the lake (although the gnats were terrible!!)
Oh I also spent 20 minutes making some new accessories for me and Isabelle. I haven't uploaded the pictures yet so that will wait till net time.
And I'm super excited that Prudent Baby used the checkbook cover I made in their Prudent Project Round-Up!!!
Yep! That's how we ended up with Squeaks! I never thought she'd survive the night, but she's still running her wheel 4.5 years later!
