Hi everyone! Wow, what an exciting and truly memorable day! We had our first sonogram today and it was more amazing than we thought it would be. Amanda had a dream last night that we were having twin girls, but the sonogram confirmed only one baby. One is fine with us! We could see baby McKay clearly - both arms and legs clearly visible - in fact the hands and arms were moving up and down. We were able to see the little heart beating inside its chest, and when the tech turned the microphone on, we were able to hear the very strong heartbeat motoring away at 153bpm. We got a few side views of baby, then one shot from the front! Baby was moving its left hand, like it was waving at us! I waved back. In the picture above the baby's head is on the right facing down with its little hand up to its face. How cute!
The doctor confirmed April 20, 2010 as the official due date, though Amanda still thinks it'll be the 21st. I say it'll come when it's ready.
Our next step is to clean out the office and start turning it into a nursery. We like the idea of a jungle/animal theme with pandas and Curious George (of course). We have a cute dresser that used to be Amanda's when she was little. I'm going to sand it and paint the drawers different colors and put fun knobs on it. For someone who has always enjoyed drawing and designing things, designing the nursery will be a fun project.
We are so blessed to be able to bring a little one into this world. We thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers as Baby McKay grows inside mommy Amanda.
